Formal Name: Brosimum rubescens

Color: Bright vivid red. Color can darken to brownish red over time with exposure to light and air.

Shade: dark

Workability: Pronounced blunting effect on cutters. Wood tends to be brittle and can splinter easily while being worked. Although a challenge to work with, it has an exceptional and lustrous red surface when finished.

Physical Properties: Extremely dense and heavy. Also has resistant properties to insects and decay.
