Formal Name: Platymiscium pinnatum

Color: Heartwood varies somewhat in color and can be found in red, black and brown variations, sometimes with mottling and streaks. Sapwood is very pale, almost white.

Shade: dark

Workability: Excellent machining characteristics that turns nicely. Wood finishes very smoothly, partly because the oils in the wood produce a natural polish. These same oils make it unsuitable for gluing and can cause adhesion problems with lacquer or urethane finishes.

Physical Properties: Medium-high density wood, dense and tough. Exceptionally high bending strength in air dried condition.
